Sight Words {Sunny Side Up}

Happy Saturday!  It's mid-afternoon and this relaxing feeling I am experiencing is courtesy of my spring break!  I went to a local day spa this morning and had a FAB facial and then came back home, showered, and crawled back into my bed while the hubs took our boys to ride their 4 wheelers!

I'm going to keep this post short today... in fact my posts this week are all probably going to be fairly short... but I wanted to share my new sight word pack.....
My firsties still need help with their sight words and this set is divided up by level {pre-primer, primer, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd}.  Once kiddos can say the sight words they get to flip them over... they could use their hands OR a spatula to up the level of engagement!  I found some uber cute ones at Hobby Lobby, but any spatulas would work!  The kids could also work in pairs with the teacher... teacher calls out a word and the first kiddo to flip the word gets to put the egg in his/her stack... the most eggs wins!  You could also give the kiddos 5-10 words (depending on their ability) and ask them to put them in ABC order.!  The possibilities really would be endless!

My own personal firstie saw me organizing and asked if he could play...  absolutely!  I'm not sure if he liked it because they were eggs or because of the flipping with the spatula, but it made me happy to watch him!
Updated:  Our district made a decision for the whole county to switch to the Fry word lists...  sooooooo.... I also uploaded a pack that has the first 200 Fry words.  Hope this will help some of you!

Hope you are all having a great weekend... the weather here is a-mah-zing!  See you soon!

Five For Friday {Spring Break Edition}

 I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs for her Five for Friday linky.  I have officially been on spring break for 2 hours now and each minute so far has been delightful...  Only 30 school days left until SUMMER break... just sayin'...
1)  Found this on Pinterest over the last week and pinned it to my CHUCKLE board.  It is so true, right?  Have I mentioned how excited I am about summer break?  I always sign up for summer school, etc.... but NOT this year.  This summer I am going to concentrate on relaxing and spending time with my M1 and M2.

2)  You know how I've talked about some days being harder than others?  Today marks month three since I delivered and buried my baby girl.  I am hoping that as the months go by... that I won't be so mindful when the 5th happens.  I will tell you that as I get closer to May.... my level of anxiety and sadness increases.  There are some days that I feel completely paralyzed by my own thoughts.  Not sure if this is normal... and navigating these waters has been really, really hard.
3)  I know the buzzy creatures have a job to do... I get that...  I'm just saying that I feel like I am bathing in pollen.  My car is covered...  There were at least 2 days this week where I probably looked like a drug addict with my scratching all over, agitation, runny nose {and stopped up at the same type... what is that all about?}, along with that glazed Benadryl look!  I take the Zyrtec D each day to try to look like a normal human, but sometimes the pollen wins!

4)  It is spring break and we are doing a "stay-cation"... you know... a vacation where you stay at home :)  I am hoping to fill each day with fun things for my boys though locally.  Hoping to catch a matinee, take them to the pottery painting place, spring/summer shoe buying excursion, lunch at Chic Fila, etc.

5)  I have made  a HUGE to-do list for this week.  Do y'all make lists?  I make them constantly... I think it helps make me feel somewhat organized.  I have a grocery list, house list, school list, etc.  I am OK if I don't get everything accomplished... just want to be fully present this week.  I am going to be back soon to blog about making ice cream with my firsties this week (they proclaimed it the best day EVER!) and also getting my supplies ready to do the Wizard of Oz next year...  here is the start of my efforts :)
I hope that you all have a FAB weekend and that it will go by slowly!  Be back soon...

It's Currently April... Can I Get An Amen?

Gonna keep this post short and sweet today... linking up with Farley for the April Currently...  I'm so glad it's April and that spring break is within sight... We don't have any crazy plans over spring break (a little stay-cation action) but we'll probably hit up the local pottery painting place, go out to lunch with friends, see a matinee at the movies...  you get the point.  I am going to try to get my house organized, have a yard sale, and get LOTS of rest and maybe finish some of my TpT works in progress {sigh}.  I suffer from what I like to call TpT ADD...  I have some many crazy ideas and I love to get started... but then I start jumping all around and it sometimes take awhile to get things cranked out and finished.  Hopefully I get reign that in and focus without the distraction of work (haha)...

I hope that you all had a great Monday...

My Butt Hurts

Have you seen this picture from Pinterest?  Seriously... every time I see it, I chuckle on the inside.  I'm chuckling now... just typing and uploading! :)
I hope that you all had a safe and happy Easter spent with your favorite peeps!  I am so wishing that we had this upcoming week off for spring break... but it's not our turn yet.  {5 more days}  We had family in town all weekend and I am feeling really worn down.  My M1 and M2 enjoyed a whole host of Easter fun-ness... egg dying, egg hunts, family time, staying up way too late, riding their new 4 wheelers... just all around boy-ness!  (couldn't snap one where they were both looking... so I gave up!)
I also went to one of my favorite shops here in town to see what new goodies they had just for me (insert maniacal laughing) and I snapped up this frame.  It will be perfect for my annual beach picture!
Each year we take the same picture (kids facing the ocean)... it is so cute to watch how they grow from year to year...  you don't have to worry if everyone is smiling nice for the cameras... and it looks great in a frame (thus the new purchase!)...  I go with my fab friend Tara from ...and They All Fall Down since we're real life friends and co-workers.  Our kiddos get along great.  We spend all day at the beach and/or pool... riding all over the island on golf carts, feeding deer, alligator watching, etc.  We are leaving the day after school is out and I'm PUMPED!!!
We only have 35 days left in this school year... when do y'all get out?  Our students started August 1st... and our last day is May 24th.  It's always interesting to me to see when everyone gets out all over the US!
Again, I hope you all had a beautiful Easter with your loved ones... I'll be back soon!

Poo and Peeps

Poo on all of you... all of you that are already on spring break.  That's right... poo on ALL of you!  We still have 10 days left... the kids can smell it and I think the teachers have it worse!  I don't even have spring break plans... but I need this!!!

That being said...I'm totally in spring mode.  I keep making TpT items with bunnies, eggs, Peeps, etc.  At this rate, I'm still going to be making spring/Easter themed items in June!  (I have also stockpiled quite the supply of actual Peeps... man, I love those things!)

I made this center to help my firsties practice time to the hour and half hour... it is a skill that they still struggle with if we don't revisit it often.  Did I mention that I love peeps?
 I made the second Peep center handle quarter past and quarter 'til times for my firsties who were ready to move on.  This is also a skill that 2nd graders are working on...

The last one I made is for older kids.  Before I moved back down to 1st grade this year, I spent more than 7 years teaching 4th and 5th grades...and they always loved exponents!  They also loved the rare occasion I would take out the crayons/makers/etc. and let them get crafty.  This pack allows for some spring fun and makes for a great bulletin board!
  I hope that you will have a fantastic weekend... get lots of rest... sorry about the poo on you comments earlier... I'm prone to emotional outbursts!  Bwahaha!  Oh, do you like actual Peeps... or not really your thing?  If not, what's your favorite Easter candy?
